  1. Students will be graded on achievement toward National Business Content Standards as well as selected Language Arts and Mathematics standards.
  2. Achievement will be measured by points earned from tests, (10 pt.) daily assignments, and (100 pt.) major projects.
  3. The grades will be kept on a computer and you will always be able to see the printout of your grade.
  4. Makeup work is at LUNCH and only allowed for EXCUSED absences.

   Care Of The Computers

  1. The computers are to be treated carefully and with respect.  If there is a problem, notify me immediately so you won't be blamed for the damage.  Any student who deliberately or carelessly causes damage will have to pay for the repairs.

  2. Don't get "mouse crazy" by clicking things and starting programs that you know nothing about. Don't try to put in passwords or change any settings.

  3. Don't touch the monitor glass with your fingers, or anything else.

  4. Leave the mouse, wires, and cords alone.

  5. Keep your area clean; brush off any paper or eraser bits. Keep backpacks, purses, and notebooks on the floor.

Behavior

  1. Enter the room quietly and act like ladies and gentlemen.

  2. No food or drinks are allowed. Nothing goes into your mouth. No exceptions, no excuses. Detention will be assigned and the food item will be trashed immediately.

  3. Girls must not use makeup, brushes, or cosmetics near the computers.

  4. Visit the restroom BEFORE you come to class.

  5. You must be in your seat when the bell rings.  The school policy for tardies will be followed, which includes a parent conference, detention, and finally Saturday School for excessive tardies.  You must also be in your seat at the end of the period and get up only when the bell rings. Writing or drawing on desks, tables, books, or any school items is always against the school rules and will cause a student to be sent to the dean.

  6. Talking out of turn, bad language, or disruptions interfere with the rights of other students to learn will quickly lead to detention, counselor referral, and parent conference.

  7. Students are to remain in their assigned seat and assigned computer unless given permission to move.   When the teacher is talking, demonstrating, or explaining something: KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD.

PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is unethical and unacceptable, and will be dealt with in a very serious manner. The Oxnard High School Plagiarism Policy will be followed.

Other

  1. The first 10 minutes of class EVERY DAY is for typing practice—no exceptions.

  2. No food or drinks are allowed. Nothing goes into your mouth. No exceptions, no excuses. Detention will be assigned and the food item will be trashed immediately.

  3. Do not bring any CDs or disks from home without permission.

  4. Your class disk is not to be taken home without permission.

  5. You may NOT download any programs or check personal e-mail without the teacher’s permission.

  6. Headphones are not allowed in class without permission.

  7. Surfing the Net is not allowed during CLASS TIME. During FREE TIME (when the assignments for the day are finished) you may use “Brain Games” on the Internet at Goldstoneonline.com.

  8. “Three Strikes Rule” – after two warnings, detention will be assigned for the third violation for “Surfing the Net”, games, or e-mail in class time.

  9. Printing your work - NEVER USE THE  PRINT BUTTON. Always use the FILE MENU and “print preview” to CHECK YOUR WORK carefully BEFORE you print it. This will save paper and trees.

  10. “Ask Two” – other students before your raise your hand to ask a question:  try to figure it out for yourself, then ask two neighbors, then ask me.

What You Can Expect From Me

  1. Your grades will be done quickly and fairly.

  2.  When I am using the projector, I cannot get up right away to help you--sometimes you have to wait. While you are waiting—stay calm and try to figure it out for yourself or see if your neighbor can help.

  3. I will stop to take care of serious problems first (like someone about to lose all his/her work) before I help with smaller, less serious problems. I will help with smaller problems, but it is better that you try it first on your own, before you raise your hand. If it seems like I am ignoring you, I am either trying to solve another more serious problem or I am giving you a chance to think for yourself and solve it yourself.

  4.  I will be available at lunch every day and other times so you can finish your work or get extra help.

  5.  I will teach at a speed which is right for most of the class, unfortunately some will think it is too slow and some will think it is too fast for them. I will give you enough time in class to do the work, but if you are absent often—there will never be enough time.

  6.  I will be understanding and easy to get along with as long as you follow the rules.

  7.  I will be here every day to do my job with my best effort unless I am seriously ill or attending a teacher conference. It is your job to be here with your best effort.
